Session Description: UC colleagues will join this panel discussion to hear and ask questions of colleagues and their career journeys. The panelists bring 5-25 years of work experience and will specifically focus on career shifts and the utilization of transferable skills. Each panelist's experience will highlight how they used resources, tools, achievements, and resilience to reimagine their career goals. From this discussion, you will gain insight into intentional career development practices, interpersonal learning, how to gain and utilize social capital, and how to evaluate and promote your transferable skills. The Moderators will aim to have panelists who have diverse career shifts within the University of California. The goal is to have a panel that includes student services, administrative officers, health employees, and human resource staff who have reimagined their careers and pivoted work fields in the UC and higher education within the last 6-12 months.

Learning Objectives:

  • Audience will recall two of the UC career competencies.
  • Audience will develop insight into how career shifts were experienced and executed.
  • Audience will leave the session with a tool kit of resources and identify one action item for the next step in their career journey.
