Opening Remarks:

Rich Lyons, Ph.D., began his term as the 12th Chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, on July 1, 2024, as the first undergraduate alum to serve as Chancellor, receiving his BS degree from Berkeley in 1982. He returned to Berkeley in 1993, joining the faculty after earning his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT and following six years on the faculty at Columbia University. Lyons is also known for culture leadership – anchoring institutions on distinctive values that help create a cohesive community with a shared understanding of, and support for, the mission. Britt Andreatta, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized thought leader who uses her background in leadership, neuroscience, psychology, and education to create science-based solutions for today’s workplace challenges. Britt is a former faculty and staff member at UC Santa Barbara, the CEO of Brain Aware Training, and former CLO for Lynda.com (LinkedIn Learning). She has over 10 million views worldwide of her online courses and is the author of several best-selling books on the brain science of success including Wired to Grow, Wired to Resist, Wired to Connect, and Wired to Become. In 2024, she was awarded the ATD Thought Leader Award. She has also been named a Top 10 Influencer in Learning and a Top 20 Influencer for Leadership Development. Dr. Andreatta regularly consults with organizations on leadership development and learning strategy.

Eugene Whitlock

Eugene Whitlock, J.D., UC Berkeley’s Chief People & Culture Officer and Associate Vice Chancellor-Human Resources. Eugene leads a 100-person human resources department including talent acquisition, people and organization development, employee and labor relations, total rewards, diversity equity, inclusion and belonging, and human resources information systems. Eugene also serves on the governing board of the American Research Universities-Human Resources Institute and the Human Resources Leadership Council for the University of California.
