BERKELEY CHANGEMAKER: How Changemaking Can Help You Reconnect, Recharge & Reimagine Leadership at Any Level

PresentersLaura Hassner and Alex Budak

Session Description: What does it mean to be a changemaker today? How can you inspire others to follow your vision for change and make your UC location, community, and world a better place? And, how is change-making rooted in the values and ethos of UC Berkeley and across the UC system?

Executive Director of The Berkeley Changemaker, Laura Hassner, sits down with fellow Berkeley Haas faculty member, Alex Budak, for a discussion on all things leadership, impact, and becoming a Berkeley Changemaker. They will discuss Alex’s recent book, Becoming a Changemaker, and together pull out key lessons that each of us can apply to our work and our life to help us reconnect, recharge, and reimagine leading, no matter our title, seniority, or years of experience.

Hassner and Budak will discuss how change-making developed at UC Berkeley and show that the identity of a “Berkeley Changemaker” is one that all UC staff, faculty, and students across the system can embody to reimagine how we can each lead from where we are.

Whether you already consider yourself a changemaker and want to connect with a community of like-minded peers, or you aspire to develop tangible skills and mindsets for more effectively leading change, you are welcome to join us for this engaging and interactive session.

Participants will:

  • Understand and deepen key Berkeley Changemaker skillsets
  • Gain the confidence to lead positive change from where they are
  • Learn how to engage others in their change efforts.
