About
Staff Engagement & Belonging is a department within People & Culture that provides professional learning opportunities and community engagement for staff employees to increase racial literacy and cultural fluency. We are committed to creating a community where all employees have the capacity, comfort, and agency to be their authentic selves at work every day.
Staff Engagement & Belonging was established at Berkeley in the summer of 2020, amid an ongoing wave of civil unrest and racial reckoning triggered by the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police. To support Berkeley’s commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution, Staff Engagement & Belonging focuses on addressing workplace issues that create disproportionate impact and outcomes among staff employees and managers.
