Session Description:
Transforming Workplace Conversations using Non-Violent Communication (NVC) aligns powerfully with the conference theme Discover, Explore, Innovate and the UC Systemwide Core Competency ABCs — Achieving Results, Building Relationships, and Creating the Future.
NVC encourages participants to discover new ways of understanding and expressing needs, emotions, and intentions. By fostering empathy and clarity, it helps individuals explore more thoughtful approaches to workplace interactions, moving beyond habitual patterns of conflict or miscommunication. This exploration unlocks opportunities for innovation in team dynamics, creating a culture where authentic dialogue drives collaboration and problem-solving.
Through the lens of the UC systemwide core competencies, NVC directly supports Achieving Results by reducing misunderstandings, promoting accountability, and enhancing team efficiency. It strengthens Building Relationships by fostering trust, empathy, and psychological safety - key drivers of inclusion and belonging. Finally, NVC drives Creating the Future by encouraging future-focused dialogue, supporting continuous growth, and building a resilient, adaptive organizational culture. By embedding NVC into workplace conversations, organizations can transform interactions into powerful tools for equity, connection, and shared success.
