1:1 Career Coaching & Talent Acquisition Sessions

Appointments with a Career Coach:

What? 

  • 200+ 1:1 career coaching appointments from over 40 career, life, and ICF certified coaches.

  • NOW attendees can review coach bios to learn more about their experiences and specialties. 

  • Attendees will have a choice of 30m and 45m appointments to discuss one or two career challenges, goals, or skills.

When and how do I register? 

  • We will no longer be offering 1:1 coaching on the day-of the NOW Conference. Instead, we’ve expanded offerings through the entire NOW Week! 

  • Registration for 1:1 career coaching appointments opens for NOW conference attendees in May. Participants will receive an invitation to register! 

  • Participants can meet the coaches now by clicking here

  • Here is the NOW Week Career Coaching schedule:

    • Monday, June 6 - 9:00-5:00pm PT

    • Tuesday, June 7 - 9:00-5:00pm PT

    • Wednesday, June 8 - 9:00-5:00pm PT

    • Friday, June 10 - 9:00-5:00pm PT

Appointments with a Talent Acquisition Advisor:

What? 

  • A 1:1 appointment with a recruiter/Talent Acquisition Advisor offers staff members tactical advice regarding being prepared for their next career move on campus.

  • 80 1:1 Talent Advisor consultation appointments from over 14 seasoned Talent Acquisition Advisors from UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA Health, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory 

  • Attendees will have an opportunity to have a 25m virtual appointment with an Advisor to discuss in depth one area of focus. 

When and how do I register? 

  • We will no longer be offering 1:1 advising on the day-of the NOW Conference. Instead, we will be offering appointments on Wednesday, June 8th! 

  • Registration for 1:1 Recruiter’s Corner appointments opens for NOW conference attendees in May. Participants will receive an invitation to register! 

  • Here are the two time slots for appointments:

    • Wednesday, June 8 - 10:00-12:00pm PT

    • Wednesday, June 8 - 1:30-4:00pm PT

Group Coaching Sessions

Coaching Circles:

What? 

Four group coaching sessions based on the UC Berkeley Grow Your Career Model and driven by a professional coach focused on creating “airtime” for each participant (coachee) to reflect on a process, challenge, or something they are working on in their career. Then, each participant in the group gets a chance to share insights, ask questions, and offer recommendations to the coachee.

Peer Coaching:

What? 

Four group coaching sessions based on the UC Berkeley Coaching Model and driven by peer-to-peer conversations, and lightly  facilitated by a professional coach. The coach will convene the group and focus the session on a few guiding questions. 

Then, the coach will launch small group conversations focused on peer-to-peer reflection, processing, inquiry, exploration, and support related to career challenges each person is facing.

Part 1 of 2: Getting the Most out of Coaching NOW and Beyond

Part 2 of 2: Introduction to Growing as a Coach

What? 

If you’d like to attend, we encourage you to join both sessions for an optimized learning experience. If you can only attend one or the other, that’s okay too!

Part 1 of 2: Getting the Most out of Coaching NOW and Beyond

This is a great place to start your NOW Conference journey. The first of two pre-conference coaching workshops. Intro to Coaching provides the foundational framework of coaching and Growing Your Coachability puts you in the driver seat of your growth plan. 

Join facilitators Colin Gerker-Junsay and Ying Kuah from Berkeley People & Culture for a 2hr workshop focused on what is coaching all about, feedback, types of coaching relationships, types of coaching you may experience,  career growth receptivity,and a prioritization process to surface your professional development priorities to get the most out of the conversation when being coached.In this session, get access to a professional development planning guide with the UC Core Competency ABCs as the foundation.

Part 2 of 2: Introduction to Growing as a Coach

Part 2 of 2 in our pre-conference coaching workshops series. Intro to Growing as a Coach is a foundational skill-building course with the idea that “everyone can become coaches.” 

Join facilitators Colin Gerker-Junsay and Ying Kuah from Berkeley People & Culture for a 3hr workshop focused on building coaching skills. Participants will learn about building coaching culture based on your role, dive deeper into coaching and the the UC Berkeley Coaching Model (Discover, Explore, Plan, Act), learn attributes of effective coaches, and get practice with fundamental coaching conversation skills: active listening, asking open-ended “powerful” questions, and feedback. 

When and how do I register?

Part 1 of 2: Monday, June 6, 1:00-3:00 pm (PT)

Part 2 of 2: Tuesday, June 7, 9:00 am-12:00 pm (PT)

For me? 

Part 1 of 2:

  • This course includes lecture, self-reflection, and dialogue. 

  • This session sets you up to maximize involvement and participation in the 1:1 and group coaching at the NOW Conference, in addition to getting the most out of the amazing keynotes and concurrent sessions on Thursday, June 9th. 

Part 2 of 2: 

  • This course includes lecture, self-reflection, dialogue, and skills practice. With the idea that “everybody coaches,” this course can help you enhance your growth mindset and coaching skill set. 

  • Knowing when and how to coach people in your worksphere takes practice. If you are working on getting better at coaching upward, downward, peer-to-peer, in teams, and as a leader, this is a good workshop to continue your practice!
