Frequently Asked Questions

I was told I need to retake a course but when I click on the course it says I already completed it. Do I actually need to retake the course?

If you receive an email (from NoReplyUCLC@berkeley.edu) indicating you are required to complete training, then you must complete the course. Once in the UC Learning Center (ucsumtotal/host), any message about completion is from your previous completion, since the course is an annual/biannual requirement. Please note, that once you click the Start button, click the "Restart" button to start the current completion for this course.

I completed the course but it still says that I haven't finished. How can I fix this?

Make sure you are clicking any on-screen prompts at the end of your course. Anything that says "Exit" or similar is what you must complete. Many courses are very particular about following these prompts, so if you don't follow them exactly, it won't recognize your completion.

I just recently started my position at the university, and I can't log into the UC Learning Center. How do I gain access?

Please allow 48 hours between when you officially start your position and attempt to log into the UC Learning Center. We get our data automatically from UCPath, but there is some delay between when this actually happens. Once this transfer is done, you will be able to log into the UC Learning Center using your Berkeley CalNet credentials.

I am an undergraduate student who needs to take some EH&S lab safety training courses. How can I gain access to these courses?

Undergraduate students needing Lab Safety training must contact ehstrain@berkeley.edu and provide the courses they need to complete.

I have feedback on the course content of the SVSH training. Who should I contact?

For feedback on these specific courses, please feel free to reach out to: ask_ophd@berkeley.edu and/or svshadvisor@berkeley.edu

I am unable to complete my assigned training within the given due dates. Can I have my due dates extended?

While we cannot manually change your due dates in the UC Learning Center, if you have extenuating circumstances you can work with your supervisor to create a due date within a month of your system due date. Please note that you will be out of compliance with that training requirement until you complete the course.

Can I receive a copy of my training transcript?

How do I cancel an In-Progress Course Attempt?

I'm trying to register for a class but it says "Registration Blocked," could you fix my access?

Activity Blocked Image

You should only see a red Registration Blocked message when there are no offerings of the course currently scheduled. Click on the "REGISTRATION BLOCKED" icon to see why you are blocked. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to the UC Learning Center support team at: LearningCenter@berkeley.edu

How can I access my certificates of completion for courses I have finished?

From the UC Learning Center home page (ucsumtotal/host), click the "Transcripts and Certificates (Training Transcript)" button.  Once you find all completed courses listed, the left tab has a downloadable certificate with the UC Seal.  This can be printed or saved as a PDF.

When I log into the UC Learning Center from a starting page, how can I use the search bar to find the courses I need (if I was not directed there by a specific URL)?

In the upper right search box, you can enter keywords, course codes, and/or course descriptors. You may get multiple results; sort through the descriptions to find the course that you are looking for.
