Presenters: Dr. Renetta Tull and Fatima Alleyne, Ph.D
Keynote Description: Grab a cup of coffee (or your favorite beverage) and join UC Davis' Dr. Renetta G. Tull and UC Berkeley's Fatima Alleyne, Ph.D for a career chat! Acting as your “virtual morning mentor,” Dr. Tull will pass along some of the tips she has shared with countless others in her roles as coach, mentor, hiring manager, and organizational leader. What qualities and activities catch her attention as she is supporting others through their career pathway? How might you take joy in the journey, build resilience in the face of adversity, co-create with others, and inspire others to get up and try again?
Regardless of formal role, every individual working in an organization has opportunities to lead or influence. Good leadership means stewardship to the people who are being served, as well as the people—including self— who are delivering the services. Drawing on her own journey, Dr. Tull will also address leadership through an equity lens, how embracing social justice and cultural humility connects to leadership models such as Authentic Leadership, Servant Leadership, and Transformational Leadership. Dr. Tull’s perspective on leadership goes beyond simply "leading a group," with an increase in rank and acquisition of power; it involves an expanded view of leadership that focuses on serving people in a way that does not diminish strength.
