Benefits at UC Berkeley

The University of California offers a wide array of high quality benefit plans from which to choose. These include comprehensive health and welfare insurance plans, a generous pension plan, and optional retirement savings opportunities.

Benefits packages for faculty and staff are based on job classification, the nature of employment and the number of hours worked.

Criteria for Determining Benefits Eligiblity and Career Status

Use the criteria below to determine whether appointments and hours count toward career status and full benefits eligibility.

Benefits Packages

UC offers three benefits packages – Full, Mid-Level, and Core – to eligible faculty and staff employees. These benefits packages determine eligibility for Health and Welfare and Retirement plans as follows:
