Revised Presidential Policy - PPSM-2.210: Absence from Work
UC Presidential Policy, PPSM-2.210: Absence from Work, was revised consistent with California Government Code section 12945.8, and other aligning technical edits were made. Edits were made to:

Change the name of “Leave to Attend Judicial Proceedings for Victims of Serious or Violent Felonies” to “Leave to Attend Crime-Related Judicial Proceedings” throughout.

Expand the definition of “family member” for Leave to Attend Crime-Related Judicial Proceedings to include a designated person (Section II).

Update certification requirements for Leave to Attend Crime-Related Judicial Proceedings (Section III.G.4).

Document the notice requirement for Jury Duty leave (Section III.E.4).

Allow employees under Section III.E.6 to designate available paid sick leave as protected to appear as a witness when summoned by subpoena or other court order, as described in Section III.E.5 (Witness Duty), and for those reasons specified in Section III.G.4 (Leave to Attend Crime-Related Judicial Proceedings).
The revised Policy is effective January 1, 2026. It will be posted online at http://policy.ucop.edu/
