UC began the Payroll Personnel System (PPS) Initiative after a 2009 assessment found PPS inadequate for meeting UC’s complex operational needs.  Built on 30-year-old technology, PPS is difficult to use, maintain and enhance, and requires redundant data entry, manual calculations and significant paper processing.  An RFP was issued in February 2011 to find a suitable replacement of the UC payroll system.

An update on the initiative and the process for securing a vendor is provided by UCOP at the following website: http://workingsmarter.universityofcalifornia.edu/projects/payroll-personnel-system/news-and-updates/.

The other is focused on the importance of our Principles of Community, and how the values enshrined in those Principles intersect with our support for free speech and expression.
