A Summer Recap

After a busy summer, I’m so excited to share with you all of the amazing events going on at Cal as we dive into the new academic year! Other than soaking up the sun as much as possible, I participated in a bunch of staff events on campus. I thought it would be fun to reflect on some highlights of the summer here at Berkeley.

How I Got To Cal

SAW 2018 Mud Fest

As the dust has settled and I’m caught up on work following the hectic but fun-filled Spring Staff Appreciation Week, I have had some time to reflect on my favorite experience- being a member of the Field Day Committee. While Field Day (aka Mud Fest 2018) was a blast, what I enjoyed even more was the opportunity to meet and work with staff members on campus outside of my department. Just Keep Swimming

Swimming outside. In the middle of winter. This was a first for me. I have been taking advantage of the 30 day free trial staff membership and swimming during my lunch break. It’s been pretty sweet because I am getting to try out all the perks that come with a Rec Membership, and it has been great getting back in the pool!

New Professional Network

I checked out a New Professional Network meeting, one of the staff orgs here at UC Berkeley, and it was great! Starting out as a new employee can be daunting, but the NPN event left me feeling excited at this budding opportunity to begin expanding my network as a Berkeley staff member. The Campanile

Last week I spiced up my lunch break and trekked from my cubicle in University Hall across campus to the legendary Campanile ivory bell tower. This little lunch field trip was such a refreshing break from the cube life- and it was so easy to get to. Read more about my excursion here!

I Can See Clearly Now!

It was time to get my eyes checked, so a coworker of mine suggested I go to UC Berkeley Optometry at the Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center. In retrospect, this visit ended up mirroring my Cal experience thus far. How did an eye exam guide me to this moment of clarity? Read about it here!
