New Feature in People Cards for Business Phone Updates

June 18, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce a new People Cards feature allowing employees and managers to update their business phone numbers directly. This update is important to ensure compliance with Government Code 3558 (also referred to as AB119), which mandates the accurate and timely maintenance of contact information for represented employees.

Effective immediately, any updates made to business phone numbers in People Cards will be reflected in UCPath the following day. This integration simplifies the process, ensures consistency across our systems, and supports our commitment to compliance.

To that end, managers must ensure business phones have been added for their represented employees. Failure to maintain accurate contact information for represented employees will result in fines of up to $10,000 per violation, which your department will incur.

For Employees:

Please update your business phone number and ensure your contact information is up-to-date.

To update your business phone number, please follow these simple steps:

  • Log in to your People Cards profile: https://portal.berkeley.edu/people
  • Click the pencil icon near your business phone number to edit.
  • Enter your updated business phone number using a 10-digit format (xxx-xxx-xxxx). Please no international phone numbers
  • Save your changes.

For Managers:

You must ensure your team members are informed about this new feature and encouraged to keep their contact information up-to-date. Accurate contact information is crucial for both operational efficiency and, in the case of represented employees, regulatory compliance. Review your team members' existing business phone numbers in People Cards to identify any necessary updates. If you see any missing information, please input the appropriate business phone numbers under their People Card.

If you have any questions or need assistance updating your information, please contact the Portal support team at regional-portal-support@berkeley.edu.

Thank you for your cooperation and prompt attention to this important matter.

Thanks,

Eugene and Stacey
