Bio/CV: 

Dr. Katherine In-Young Lee is a Higher Ed Coach & Career Strategist. She is the founder of Rise with Clarity, a coaching and consulting business for women of color faculty in higher education, and host of the Rise with Clarity Podcast. She helps women faculty to advance their careers with clarity and confidence. She also coaches on the topics of navigating elder caregiving (while maintaining one’s career) and exploring career pivots within and beyond academia.

As a former musician and trained ethnographer, Katherine is adept at deep listening and observation. She brings these skills together with her coaching practice and her 20 years of experience in higher education.

Dr. Lee is ICF-certified as an Associate Certified Coach. She received a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from Harvard University in 2012 and served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology at UC Davis and (2012-17) and at UCLA (2017-23), respectively. In 2025, she served as a consultant and trainer for UCSB, helping to develop their inaugural campus-wide Faculty Mentoring Program.
