Technical Unit (TX) Bargaining Unit Update

UC seeks progress in contract negotiations with UPTE

Since bargaining began in mid-December, the University of California has been frustrated with the progress of negotiations with UPTE and believes that negotiations have yielded little movement toward a new contract covering 8,600 research and technical employees.

Summary of postdoctoral contract terms

  1. DURATION: 5 year contract, no mid-contract bargaining. Expires September 30, 2015.
  2. ACADEMIC JUDGMENT: Faculty retain ability to determine academic matters such as postdoc performance, research quality, goals, standards.
  3. COMPENSATION:
    1. Salary increase to all postdocs effective September 2010 (between 1.5% and 3% depending on salary).

Police Officers Unit (PA) Bargaining Unit Update

Bargaining Update – Police Contract Negotiations

UC presented the Federated University Police Officers Association with a revised offer for a new four year contract on May 22, 2013. The revised offer would provide guaranteed wage increases each year for four years, with the first 3% wage increase effective upon ratification of the contract. In the University’s original offer the 3% increase was to take effect in July. In practical terms this means that if FUPOA voted to ratify this new offer on June 7th for example, the 3% wage increase would take effect on that date.

Contract Duration (IX)

Duration: The Memorandum of Understanding for the Non-Senate Instructional (IX) unit has been extended to September 30, 2014.
