Recurring Foundational Skills - Required Training
The following trainings must be completed on a recurring basis by all employees to support our workplace community values and ensure legal compliance. All training can be accessed through the UC Learning Center.
Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment (SVSH) Prevention Training:
All UC Berkeley employees will need to take a version of the UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination course on a recurring basis. These trainings may also be referred to as Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention training.

Supervisors, Managers, Faculty, and those in MSP or SMP will need to take the following 2 online eCourses. These courses are assigned to you in the UC Learning Center based on your HR Job Code and include all supervisory job titles, managerial job titles, PPSM title levels 4 and 5, as well as faculty (senate and non-senate).
- "UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination: Supervisors, Faculty, MSP (SVSH)" (course code: AB1825-BE-ECO)
- This course takes, on average, 3 hours to complete and is required every other year, or every two (2) years.
- "Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment (SVSH): Supervisors, Faculty, MSP Refresher" (course code: BE-SVSH SUPPLMENTAL-ECO)
- This course takes approximately 35 minutes to complete and is required every other year, or every two (2) years.
- This course alternates with the other supervisory course listed above.
- "UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination: Supervisors, Faculty, MSP (SVSH)" (course code: AB1825-BE-ECO)
- If you are a non-supervisorory employee, Graduate Student Instructor (GSI), Graduate Student Researcher (GSR), or do not fall into any of the job areas referenced above, you will need to take the following online eCourse. This course is assigned to you in the UC Learning Center based on your primary HR Job Code.
- "UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination: Non-Supervisors (SVSH)" (course code: SVSAST-BE-ECO)
- This course takes, on average, 2 hours to complete and is required every year (annually).
- "UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination: Non-Supervisors (SVSH)" (course code: SVSAST-BE-ECO)
Check on your completion of the above courses in the UC Learning Center by going to your transcript, then checking that the “Assignment Status” shows as “Acquired.” Here’s detailed instruction on how to check on the Assignment Status.
Cyber Security Awareness Training:

All UC Berkeley employees are required to complete Cyber Security Training yearly. This course is assigned to you in the UC Learning Center.

"UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals" (course code: SECURITY-BE-ECO)
- This course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is required every year (annually).

Ethical Values and Conduct Training:
All UC Berkeley staff are required to complete an ethical values and conduct training course. These courses are assigned to you in the UC Learning Center.
- Those engaged in research the will need to take the following eCourse assigned to your profile:
- "UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing for Researchers" (course code: ECBR-BE-ECO)
- This course takes approximately 35 minutes to complete and is required every other year, or every two (2) years.
- "UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing for Researchers" (course code: ECBR-BE-ECO)
- All other staff will need to take the following eCourse assigned to your profile:
- "General Compliance Briefing: University of California Ethical Values and Conduct" (course code: ETHICS-BE-ECO)
- This course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is currently required one time.
- "General Compliance Briefing: University of California Ethical Values and Conduct" (course code: ETHICS-BE-ECO)
