Dear Colleagues,
Over the past few years, UC has made notable strides in supporting work-life balance, including the introduction of the Pay for Family Care and Bonding program in 2021 and protected leave following reproductive loss in 2024. UC is now seeking to expand paid sick leave for part-time and full-time employees effective January 1, 2025, and the Office of the President invites comments on proposed revisions to PPSM 2.210: Absence from Work.

UC is committed to supporting faculty and staff — and that includes enhancing benefits, programs and policies designed to help employees balance their work and personal lives. Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, UC’s leave options will expand to provide eligible employees with up to five days of protected leave following a reproductive loss. This change aligns with California legislation that will be effective Jan. 1, 2024.
Medical costs are rising: Choose the benefits that are right for you Oct. 26 – Nov. 17, 2023
Financial sustainability. Gratitude. Inclusion and belonging. Reducing bureaucracy.
These are just a few of the topics that UC Berkeley Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Ben Hermalin covered this past Tuesday in the first Campus Conversations event of the fall semester.

Because the University of California is committed to pay equity and pay transparency, all UC employees can self-access information about the salary range for their positions online. The new Job Code Lookup System site, which has replaced the previous Title Code Web Inquiry System (TCS) site, will make that process easier and more accessible to all users.
Since the University’s COVID-19 vaccine policy was first issued in December 2020, UC has continued to review and adjust UC’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements as public health conditions have evolved. With the changes to federal and state public health guidance and the end of the federal Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023, UC is moving to a systemwide COVID-19 vaccination opt-out program for UC students and employees.
The University’s Principles of Community express our collective commitment to promoting and sustaining a safe, caring, and humane environment.
The University of California Office of the President invites comments on the proposed revisions to the Presidential Policy Business and Finance Bulletin (BFB) – G-28, Travel Regulations.
